Juror's Review:
When I first came across Blaine Mayo's work "Sleep and Uncertainty" while judging the show I stopped for a long period of time to the view this piece. Honestly I couldn't put my finger on what it was that moved me so much. I then found myself coming back to the image over and over. This is what good art is about; it forced me to stop. What I find interesting is I can't bring myself to analyze it--that is to try to find the answer. I don't want to fully understand this piece. At first you don't know if it's male or female, sick and dying, sick and recovering, or just simply tired. In my opinion, ambiguity is the strongest force in art, and this piece. Even though very real, it's fogged in a cloud of ambiguity. ~Juror - Don Luper

Seaside Sensuality / Blaine Mayo
Everything works here. The composition is intriguing, the lighting is soft and subtle
and sublime, the monotone palette with the siren's skin. She's a mermaid that washed
ashore in a fisherman's net, pristine and beckoning, but with a dubious agenda. It's a
scene from a movie we play out in our heads. Perfect.~Dominic AZ Bonuccelli

A fascinating range of harsh and confrontational with ethereal and wistful. Deteriorating
muted textures play opposite contrasty quasi goth. I'm really impressed by the spectrum
of moods and by your resistance to being pigeonholed to one style. Always impressive
is an image which seems like a scene from a long ago film, a faraway land, a narrative
playing out in a Mad Hatter's head.~Dominic AZ Bonuccelli

Found out today I got another award. Best single image at the Then There Were 8 A Fine Art Photography Exhibition here in OKC. Pretty stoked to receive the award.  I am humbled cause there was some really good shots in the show. Otherwise my holiday season has been hectic but it's almost over. Hope you all are doing well. :)

So this Friday I have a solo show during decent sized art walk. Showing some pieces not before seen printed. I'm nervous and excited about how they will be received. Hopefully people will appreciate the work that I put into em. I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed it all goes well.
